The Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday barred the Nigerian government from making further deductions from the Federation Account to fund the Nigeria Police Trust Fund, NPTF, or other agencies of government not listed in the Constitution.
According to Justice Ahmed Mohammed, who delivered the ruling, such deductions were illegal, unlawful and unconstitutional.
To discuss the implication of the ruling not just for River State, but the all the states and local government areas of the federation, as well as the Federal Capital Territory, is Somina Johnbull, a lawyer who is conversant with the suit.
