Snoop Dogg Among Torchbearers for Final Stretch of Paris 2024 Olympic Flame

Snoop Dogg will be one of the torchbearers in the final leg leading up to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

American rapper Snoop Dogg is set to be a torchbearer during the final stretch before the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games on Friday.

The 52-year-old artist will carry the torch through the streets of Saint-Denis, an underprivileged northern Paris suburb that hosts the Stade de France Olympic Stadium.

The town’s mayor, Mathieu Hanotin, confirmed the news on social media platform X, writing, “Saint Denis: last step before the Eiffel Tower. An international cast @SnoopDogg for the last stretch of the Olympic Flame.”

Snoop Dogg, who is contributing to NBC’s coverage of the Games, is well-known in the sports world for his Snoop Youth Football League, with the championship game dubbed the “Snooper Bowl.”

Other torchbearers in Saint-Denis on Friday will include French actress Laetitia Casta and French rapper MC Solaar. The final bearer who will light the Olympic cauldron at the opening ceremony remains one of sport’s best-kept secrets, known by fewer than a dozen people.

Paris 2024 organising committee president Tony Estanguet revealed on Sunday that the person chosen to light the cauldron is not yet aware of their selection. Among the candidates are Marie-José Pérec, a three-time gold medallist in track and field and widely regarded as France’s best Olympian, and soccer star Zinedine Zidane, who led France to the World Cup title in 1998 and the European crown in 2000.
