Following a deadly tanker explosion in Majiya, Jigawa State, which claimed over 100 lives, Vice President Kashim Shettima, on behalf of President Bola Tinubu, has pledged federal support and ordered a review of safety protocols for fuel transportation.
Shettima also announced immediate federal intervention, with National Emergency Management Agency personnel dispatched to assist the victims.
“This devastating incident has shaken us all to our core. The Federal Government stands with the people of Jigawa. We are mobilising all necessary resources to support the injured and assist the families affected by this calamity”
The Vice President expressed deep sorrow and extended the federal government’s solidarity with the people of Jigawa while commenting first responders for their swift action.
Shettima stressed the need for improved road safety measures to prevent a recurrence.
“As we contend with this tragedy, let us also reflect on the importance of safety measures and public awareness to prevent such incidents in the future.
“Every life is precious, and we must do all we can to protect our citizens.”
