Senator Abdul Ningi, representing Bauchi Central, has made a notable return to the National Assembly as he was spotted on Tuesday. Ningi, who had been absent for over two months due to a suspension, was seen alongside Senator Suleiman Kawu of Kano South.
The suspension, initially set for three months, was imposed in March after Ningi accused the 2024 budget of being inflated by N3 trillion. However, the Senate recalled him last week, prior to the completion of his suspension term.
The decision to reinstate Ningi was propelled by a motion sponsored by Minority Leader Abba Moro, Senator Olalere Oyewumi of Osun South, and Senator Osita Ngwu of Enugu West.
During the motion, Moro emphasised the necessity of Ningi’s return to fulfill his legislative duties for the Bauchi Central senatorial district.
“Senator Abdul Ahmed Ningi has spent over two months outside the precincts of the National Assembly Complex and needs to return to continue with his legislative activities,” stated Moro.
“The senate minority leadership takes full responsibility for the actions of our colleague Senator Abdul Ahmed Ningi and apologizes on his behalf.”
