Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, the influential music mogul, has been indicted on three serious charges, including sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution.
The indictment, unsealed on Tuesday by prosecutors in the Southern District of New York, portrays Combs as the leader of a “criminal enterprise” that, for years, allegedly engaged in the abuse, coercion, and exploitation of women.
According to the indictment, Combs, 54, is accused of running an operation that involved a range of illegal activities, including forced labour, kidnapping, arson, bribery, and obstruction of justice.
The prosecutors further allege that Combs’ business employees were instrumental in helping him commit these crimes.
His lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, however said they were “disappointed with the decision to pursue what we believe is an unjust prosecution”
Combs is expected to appear in a federal courthouse in Manhattan later on Tuesday for an arraignment.
His arrest in Manhattan followed a raid on two of his properties in Los Angeles and Miami in March, which was said to be a part of an “ongoing investigation” into sex trafficking.
The indictment marks a significant development in the case against Combs, who has long been a towering figure in the music industry, but now faces serious allegations that could potentially dismantle his career and legacy.
The prosecution’s case is expected to delve into the details of the alleged criminal activities and the extent to which Combs’ business empire was involved.
