Saudi Arabia King Salman To Undergo Treatment For Lung Inflammation

On Sunday, after a series of medical tests, it was reported that Saudi Arabian King Salman is to undergo treatment for lung inflammation at Al Salam Palace in Jeddah.

The 88-year-old king will receive antibiotic treatment until the inflammation diminishes, says the state news agency while quoting royal court.

Japan’s Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshimasa Hayashi had stated that the Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman, the in practice leader, had to shift his visit to Japan that was supposed to start on Monday because of King Salman’s health.

At a news conference in Tokyo, Hayashi said “Saudi Arabia informed the Japanese government that due to the health condition of King Salman of Saudi Arabia, Crown Prince Mohammed’s visit to Japan, which had been scheduled to begin on the 20th, had to be postponed.”

It was reported that earlier on Sunday King Salman had undergone medical tests at A1 Salam Palace royal clinics because of “high temperature and joint pain.”

In April the King was previously hospitalised for a rotine check-up.

In 2015, King Salman, who had spent over two and a half years as the crown prince and deputy premier, assumed leadership of the world’s leading oil-exporting nation, becoming the stewardship of Islam’s holiest sites.

The crown prince was holding discussions with U.S. National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan in the kingdom regarding a tactical agreement between Washington and Riyadh when the King’s sickness occurred.

The Saudi Arabia embassy in Japan did not provide a swift response to a request for comment regarding the cancellation of the crown prince’s trip. His itinerary during the visit from May 20 to May 23 had included meeting with Japanese Emperor Naruhito and Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.
