Saudi Arabia Bans Flights From Nigeria Over Omicron

The Saudi Arabia Government has suspended Nigerians from entering into the kingdom in its bid to prevent further spread of Omicron variant of coronavirus after six reported cases in Nigeria.

The government said that the move, which would come into force immediately was coming as part of the kingdom’s precautionary measures to prevent the spread of the variant designated as virus of concern by the World Health Organistaion (WHO).

A source from the kingdom noted that the Saudi government suspension of flights from Nigeria into the country was in order to check the spread of omicron in the holy land.

He said that though circular has been issued to flight operators on the suspension, all the flights currently enroute to Saudi from Nigeria would be allowed into the kingdom till official announcement.

“Yes, the suspension is real. Circular has been issued to travel operators and other stakeholders to suspend airlifting of passengers from Nigeria. Meanwhile, those currently enroute Saudi will be allowed into the country,” the source said.

According to him, a circular has been issued that all Lesser Hajj flights should be canceled and there will be no more flights from Nigeria until further notice.
