The Governor of Lagos State Babajide Sanwo-Olu of the All Progressives Congress On Monday, was declared winner of the Lagos governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission The Labour Party governorship candidate in Lagos State, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour while speaking at a press Conference on Sunday vowed never to congratulate Sawno-Olu following his victory.
He rejected the results stating that the election was a sham and explained how the results were manipulated to favour Sanwo-Olu. Amateur videos captured during the gubernatorial and house of Assembly elections on Saturday March 18th showed pockets of violence accoss the state.
Thugs alleged to be supporters of the all progressives congress threatened non supporters of the APC, some were attacked and non indigenes were asked to stay at home. In Delta State, there were similar reports of voter intimidation.
In a video that went viral, Barrister Fred Ajudua, a legal practitioner was heard warning voters to stay away from certain polling units during the election, he declared the area belongs to the people’s Democratic Party. In Rivers state, Armed police officers were seen harassing Ad hoc staff of the independent national electoral commission.
This is as the Rivers state Governor, Nyesom Wike petitioned the Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba to ensure that politicians are restricted to their polling units during the governorship election in the state, because there were plans by politicians to parade suspected thugs to disrupt the election.
Former Rivers state Governor, and the immediate past Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi during the election, accused the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Professor Mahmood Yakubu of colluding with Wike, because they worked together when Wike was the Minister of State for Education.
He also claimed that a member of the camp of President-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu nominated the INEC Chairman. The Peoples Democratic Party’s governorship candidate in Akwa Ibom State, Umo Eno was declared winner of the state’s governorship election on Sunday.
He won in 29 local government areas with three hundred and fifty six thousand, three hundred and Forty Six Votes, while the Young Progressives Party’s Senator Bassey Akpan won his own local government area, with One Hundred And Thirty Six thousand Two Hundred And Sixty Two Votes.
The candidate who went viral for proposing happy hour every Friday for the people of Akwa Ibom, if he becomes Governor of the state, was elated when he was declared winner.
