The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo Olu, has commended the efforts of Guinness world record holder and professional slack-liner, Jan Roose, after he captured a perfect Lagos selfie while walking on a line from Sterling Towers to the Onome Rig.

Funsho Doherty, the 2023 governorship candidate of the Action Democratic Congress in Lagos state has critised the Governor of the state, over Public Procurement awards in the 2nd and 3rd quarters of 2023 highlighting a number of contracts for further scrutiny.

In a post on X, Doherty wrote an open letter to Sanwo-Olu, appealing for the judicious use of public funds especially in the face of the current economic realities.

According to him the approval of N2 billion Naira for rechargeable fans, lights and fridge for the office of the deputy governor, as well as N18.5 million Naira awarded to the office of the chief of staff to the governor; for the supply and distribution of 2,000 chickens across the local government areas of the state, calls for further explanation,

In Malawi, the country’s president Lazarus Chakwera has suspended all international travel for himself and his government with immediate effect and also ordered all ministers currently abroad to return home.

The president also slashed Fuel allowances for senior government officials by 50%. The measure follows a huge devaluation of the country’s currency, as the economy is faced with turbulent times, characterised by an acute shortage of petrol and diesel, as well as high inflation.

The immediate past governor of Kogi State, Yahaha Bello, over the weekend, vowed that members of his cabinet including commissioners who allegedly betrayed him during the November 11th governorship election in the state, will not go unpunished. Bello made the comment while speaking with APC stakeholders at a closed door meeting in Lokoja.

During the meeting, Bello described many of his allies as enemies within, who were plotting to pull him down, because of his choice of Usman Ododo as his successor despite all he has sacrificed for them. Last week, Usman Ododo received his certificate of return at the INEC headquarters in Lokoja and presented it to Yahaha Bello while kneeling in the presence of his supporters.
