Russian Missile Strike On Southern Ukraine Kills One, Injures 16 In Latest Assault

Russia launched an attack on the southern Ukrainian city of Mykolaiv, killing one person and injuring at least 16 others, according to Vitaliy Kim, head of the regional military administration. The assault caused extensive damage to various facilities, including an infrastructure site, a restaurant complex, trade pavilions, residential buildings, and several cars. Emergency services reported that the attack also sparked multiple fires, two of which had been extinguished.

The Ukrainian military confirmed that Russian forces used seven S-300/400 missiles in the strike on Mykolaiv. In addition to this, Russia launched 17 drones and two more missiles targeting other regions. Ukraine’s air force successfully shot down 12 drones, while four were reportedly lost, likely due to electronic warfare measures.

This recent wave of attacks comes as Russia continues to focus on Ukraine’s southern regions, targeting critical infrastructure, particularly in the Mykolaiv and Odesa regions. Ukrainian officials have reiterated their calls for additional air defense support from allies to counter these ongoing assaults.

Moscow has consistently denied targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure, despite thousands of civilian deaths since the invasion began in February 2022.
