Russian forces launched an overnight assault on Ukraine, targeting energy infrastructure in the southern region of Mykolaiv. The attack, involving 56 drones and one missile, caused power outages for some residents, but no casualties were reported, according to Mykolaiv regional governor Vitaliy Kim. The assault was confirmed via a statement on the Telegram messaging app.
Ukraine’s air force also reported that five infrastructure facilities near the front lines were struck. While 22 drones were intercepted, 27 others likely fell into Ukrainian territory due to electronic warfare measures, with two more crossing into Belarus. Kyiv mayor Vitali Klitschko stated that drone debris landed in a kindergarten’s yard in the capital, but no critical infrastructure was damaged, and no casualties were recorded.
In the northeastern Sumy region, authorities reported a drone attack that set fire to an administrative building and damaged two vehicles. As winter approaches, Russian forces have escalated their strikes on critical infrastructure across Ukrainian cities, raising concerns over the country’s energy supply.
Ukraine’s leadership has renewed calls for additional air defense support from its allies in light of the sustained attacks. Russia has consistently denied targeting civilians, though thousands have been killed during the war, which has continued for more than two and a half years.
