Russian state media reports that troops are being deployed to the Kursk region in western Russia as Ukraine’s cross-border surprise assault enters its fourth day.
The reports also indicate that Ukrainian forces have advanced over 10 kilometers into Russian territory, marking the deepest incursion by Kyiv since Russia’s full-scale invasion began in February 2022.
In response, Russia has announced a state of emergency in the region.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian officials have reported that a strike on a supermarket in the Donetsk region, which is on the front line, has resulted in 10 deaths and 35 injuries.
On Thursday night, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Moscow must “feel” the repercussions of its invasion of Ukraine, though he did not specifically address the situation in Kursk.
