Ronaldo, Ramsey Score to Keep Juventus in Serie A Title Race

Aaron Ramsey and Cristiano Ronaldo both struck late goals as Juventus saw off 10-man Sassuolo to remain in touch in the Serie A title race.

Wales midfielder Ramsey slid in from six yards before Ronaldo fired beneath Andrea Consigli in stoppage time.

Sassuolo played the second half with 10 men after Pedro Obiang was sent off for a bad challenge on Federico Chiesa.

Danilo had crashed Juve ahead from 25 yards but Gregoire Drefel levelled before Ramsey and Ronaldo’s late show.

It was a third successive victory for Juve who climb to fourth, seven points behind leaders AC Milan – who they beat 3-1 on Wednesday – but with a game in hand.

For a long period, it appeared they would fail to follow up that win despite former West Ham midfielder Obiang’s dismissal for a studs-up tackle on the stroke of half-time.

Ex-Manchester City right-back Danilo thundered a Sassuolo clearance into the bottom corner first time from distance to put Juve ahead but Drefel took Hamed Junior Traore’s pass into his stride to level.

Ronaldo put a golden chance too close to Sassuolo keeper Consigli and Chiesa hit the outside of the post as Juve were frequently frustrated in their search for a winner.

But former Arsenal player Ramsey converted Gianluca Frabotta’s cross before Ronaldo strode clear to seal victory and keep Andrea Pirlo’s champions in the hunt for a 10th consecutive title.

Victory came at a cost, however, with Weston McKennie and Paulo Dybala both withdrawn with first-half injuries.
