Professional footballer, Cristiano Ronaldo, debuted his YouTube channel on Wednesday, amassing millions of subscribers within mere hours.
The Portuguese international introduced 19 videos on his ‘UR Cristiano’ channel, showcasing content featuring himself and his family.
“The wait is over. My @YouTube channel is finally here! SIUUUbscribe and join me on this new journey,” Ronaldo announced on Instagram.
The channel was an instant sensation. Within just 90 minutes, the Al Nassr forward shattered the world record by becoming the quickest channel to reach 1 million subscribers. He currently boasts 15.4 million and the number continues to rise.
At 39, Ronaldo shared a video on Instagram where he showed his children a gold “play button” plaque awarded by YouTube for surpassing 1 million subscribers.
He captioned it: “A present for my family. Thank you to all the SIUUUbscribers!”
Ronaldo swiftly overtook eight-time Ballon d’Or winner and Argentina captain Lionel Messi’s subscriber count of 2.31 million, but still has a considerable way to go to catch up to Mr. Beast, the most-subscribed YouTuber with 331 million.
This isn’t the first time the former Real Madrid and Manchester United star has set social media records.
Ronaldo has 170 million followers on Facebook, 112.6 million on X, and a staggering 636 million on Instagram.
