Ahead of Nigeria’s 60 years Independence Day celebration, the country’s foremost media group, THISDAY ARISE Group will be hosting a 6-hour global commemoration to celebrate this milestone for Africa’s premier nation on October 1.
The event will include music from leading performers, fashion from top designers, speeches from icons, statesmen, global leaders as well as business and thought leaders, and an evening of fun, stories, art, and entertainment.
The event will feature statements and goodwill messages from Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, Chairman of the Nigerian Governor’s Forum, Kayode Fayemi Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, and a host of other top government functionaries.
There will also be goodwill messages from the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, Africa’s richest man and founder of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, Nobel Laureate, Wole Soyinka, former Senate President Bukola Saraki, a former Minister of Finance Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, and several business leaders.
The virtual event will also include messages by friends of Nigeria from within the continent – South Africa, Ghana, Rwanda – and from the US, the UK, Germany and France.
The celebration will witness top performances from Nigeria’s leading music stars such as Burna Boy, Davido, 2Baba, Wizkid, and many more.
The virtual celebration is one in a robust schedule of activities that will be produced and broadcast from Lagos, Abuja, and London, and staged in various cities around the world and streamed to a global audience on ARISE Play, ARISE NEWS CHANNEL, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.
