World-renowned Afrobeats artist, Rema, and America’s Selena Gomez, became the first winners ever of the annual MTV Video Music Awards newly installed category for Best Afrobeats.
The Duo won the category for their head-bopping song, “Calm Down” at the awards ceremony held in Newmark, New Jersey in the US on Tuesday.
The award is the first of its kind as organisers honored the fast-evolving Afrobeats music style by unveiling the category in its 2023 edition.
