A passenger in a car driven by Migos rapper Offset was arrested for carrying a concealed, loaded firearm.
The Beverly Hills Police Department said that 20-year-old Marcelo Almanzar is being held on a $35,000 bail. Almanzar is rapper and Offset’s wife, Cardi B’s cousin.
Offset livestreamed himself being questioned by police on his Instagram account. In a clip shared online on Saturday, an officer can be heard asking Offset to step out of the vehicle. “I’m not doing that; I’m not doing that. Because you’ve got guns out,” Offset said.
The video has since been deleted and he was later released.
Police said they received information from a passerby about a person who pointed a weapon at him from a vehicle, which patrol units stopped and investigated. Officials added that reports that Offset had been arrested were inaccurate.
In a statement on Sunday, the rapper’s rep said he “thanks his fans” for their support.
“Artist and philanthropist Offset was detained by the Beverly Hills Police Department following an attack by aggressive Trump supporters. He was released shortly thereafter,” says Offset’s rep, Derrian Perry.
“Offset thanks his fans for their support and wishes everyone peace and safety during these trying times. He encourages everyone to get out and vote because nothing changes if nothing changes.”
