Eredivisie champions PSV Eindhoven have bolstered their squad with the addition of experienced Croatian international Ivan Perisic on a free transfer. The 35-year-old winger would remain with the club until the end of the season.
Perisic arrived at PSV following a brief stint with his boyhood club, Hajduk Split.
His contract with the Croatian side was terminated in August after initially joining on loan from Tottenham Hotspur.
During his time with Spurs, Perisic made 50 appearances over two seasons. Prior to his English stint, he enjoyed successful spells with Inter Milan and Borussia Dortmund, winning league titles and domestic cups in both Germany and Italy.
One of the highlights of his career was his involvement in Bayern Munich’s Champions League triumph in 2020.
Perisic has also represented Croatia on the international stage, earning 136 caps and scoring 33 goals.
He played a crucial role in Croatia’s run to the 2018 World Cup final, where they were narrowly defeated by France.
PSV, who currently lead the Eredivisie standings, are hoping that Perisic’s experience and quality can help them maintain their position at the top of the table.
The club suffered a 3-1 defeat to Juventus in their Champions League opener on Tuesday but will look to bounce back with a victory over Fortuna Sittard on Sunday.
