The Defunct Presidential Women Campaign Council of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on Nigerians to exercise restraint and avoid protests at the present moment in the nation’s history, warning that it could be counterproductive.
The organisation said while it understands the economic hardships in the country, giving the government an opportunity to address the pressing issues is crucial.
The Director-General of APC-PWPC, Dr. Asabe Vilita Bashir, made the plea in a statement in Abuja.
She said, “We acknowledge the efforts of the government to engage with stakeholders and address the concerns of Nigerian youth and women. We encourage the government to continue on this path and work towards tangible solutions. Meaningful dialogue and collaboration are therefore very important in addressing the complex issues facing our nation at this time.
“Protests can be counterproductive and may lead to unintended consequences, including escalating tensions and conflict, further disrupting economic activities and livelihoods and undermining the government’s efforts to address the issues
“Instead, as concerned Nigerians and women, we advocate for constructive dialogue, engagement, and collaboration. Let us work together to build a better future for all Nigerians. We urge our members and supporters to channel their energy into activities that promote peace, understanding, and progress.
“Specifically, we call on the government to continue engaging with stakeholders and addressing the concerns of Nigerian women.
“Our members and supporters should participate in constructive dialogue and collaboration. All Nigerians should remain calm and peaceful, even in the face of challenges.
“Let us give the government a chance to deliver on its promises and work towards a more inclusive and equitable society. Together, we can achieve greatness and build a brighter future for ourselves and future generations.”
