President Bola Tinubu is back in Abuja, the nation’s capital after a two-day trip to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia where he attended the Joint Arab-Islamic Summit.
The President’s official aircraft, Nigeria Air Force 1, touched down on Tuesday at the presidential wing of the Nnamdi Azikwe international airport, Abuja at about 8.00pm.
President Tinubu was received on arrival by his Chief of Staff, Hon Femi Gbajabiamila; FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike; Finance Minister and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun and the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Abdullahi Ganduje.
While at the Summit, the President called for a decisive global action to end the ongoing violence in Gaza, urging world leaders to move beyond symbolic condemnations.
He called on parties in the conflict in the Middle East to respect the principles of proportionality and the basic rights of civilians, consistent with global legal and diplomatic frameworks.
”In a rules-based international order, States have the right of self-defence. But self defence must take proportionality into account, in line with global legal, diplomatic – and moral – frameworks.
”An entire civilian population, their dreams and futures, cannot be dismissed as collateral,” he said.
Also, on the sidelines of the Summit, President Tinubu held talks with Saudi Arabia’s Crown, Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
The President was accompanied on the trip by key officials, including the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar; the National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu; Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris; and the Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Mohammed Mohammed.
