President Tinubu Confers GCON Honour on Indian PM Modi During Historic Abuja Visit

President Bola Tinubu has conferred the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON) on Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

This honor was conferred on him on Sunday during a bilateral meeting in Aso Rock.

“The honour is to signify our appreciation of India as Nigeria’s partner,” Tinubu said.

President Tinubu received Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Sunday.

This visit is the first by an Indian Prime Minister to Nigeria in 17 years, following Dr. Manmohan Singh’s visit in 2007. 

Prime Minister Modi is also the fourth Indian Prime Minister to visit Nigeria.
