German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier has praised the stable and multifaceted relationship between Germany and Nigeria, citing strong cultural, political, and economic ties as the foundation of their partnership.
Speaking during his visit to Nigeria, President Steinmeier emphasised the vibrant cultural exchange between both nations, particularly in the arts.
“we have a very, very vivid exchange of artists between Germany and Nigeria. And you know, what we are seeing here is really a documentation of the variety of Nigerian artists.”
Steinmeier expressed his delight in the efforts of both countries to deepen bilateral relations.
“I think that is what the two presidents, myself and the Nigerian president, were expressing and explaining this morning during the press conference. We are trying to deepen our relations and, you know, that cannot be done without the presence on both sides.”
The German President highlighted the importance of continuous engagement, recalling his earlier meetings with President Bola Tinubu and past interactions with Nigerian leaders.
“So I was very happy to receive your president last year in Germany, and I’m happy to be here again for in the meanwhile, the third time.
So I’m knowing a little bit about Nigeria, but I have to come very often in the future to know everything.”
