Presidency Goofs Again On UAE Visa Ban + FG Claims Economy Not In Distress – Trending With Ojy Okpe

The presidency on Tuesday reacted to a document indicating that the United Arab Emirates has lifted visa restrictions on Nigerians.

Bayo Onanuga, the special adviser on information and strategy to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who posted the document on X, with the caption, ‘UAE resumes visa services for Nigerians, the fruit of president Bola Tinubu’s diplomacy, debunked his own claims moments after, clarifying that the document was not authorised by the Nigerian or the UAE government.

The Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Abubakar Kyari on Tuesday, said that the major factor affecting food availability in Nigeria, is the smuggling of food out of Nigeria to neighbouring countries.

Kyari made the comments while addressing members of the House of Representatives, during the sectoral debate on agriculture and food security.

The Tinubu administration has said that the country’s economy is not in distress as widely assumed.

This was made known by the minister of information and national orientation, Mohammed Idris, who represented the president at the Leadership conference and awards which took place on Tuesday, at the Transcorp Hilton in Abuja.

The minister also stated that the country is only facing challenging times marked with unprecedented opportunities that will reset the economy.

A video of a bus driver who was asked about the state of the economy, have made the rounds on social media. The bus driver said that things are so hard, that it even affects his private parts at night.

Vice President Kashim Shettima on Tuesday, announced the handover of 200 newly refurbished stores to be used by 400 entrepreneurs in Abeokuta, Ogun state.

Shettima made the announcement at the second edition of the expanded national MSME Clinics in the State.

According to him, the beneficiaries will use the stores free of charge for a period of one year, after which they will be charged discounted rates to use the facilities.

The gesture is said to be part of efforts by President Bola Tinubu’s administration to support small businesses by providing an enabling environment for them to thrive.

In Ogun State, the Senator representing Ogun West Senatorial District, Olamilekan Adeola empowered more than 15,000 residents with a N3bn Naira empowerment program fund, by providing training in various vocational skills such as leather works, sewing, fish production, ICT, and the agricultural value chain.

The trainees were also given cash grants to the tune of N1b Naira and were also supported with various working tools such as sewing machines, dryers, freezers, and gas cookers.
