The Management of the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution (PHED) Plc has assured customers within its franchise of a new year of positive impact as it commenced the business year.
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of PHED, Dr Benson Uwheru gave the assurance during a strategic session with business leaders across the area of coverage.
During his interactions with the staff on his working visits to the various regions of the company, the MD restated the theme of 2024, as “A Year of Positive Impact”.
He stated that after reflecting on last year, the company is positioned to leave a positive impact in every sphere of customer experience owing to the renewed commitment by management.
Uwheru explained the acronyms in the phrase ‘positive” as Purposeful living, Optimistic, Self-Confidence, Initiative, Trust, Invigorating, Victory, and Excellence.
The MD enjoined all staff to be purposeful and optimistic while displaying a high-level self-confidence. He also encouraged employees to “deploy new initiatives, build trust, be invigorated, celebrate victories, deliver excellent service”.
He further told the staff members to ensure they apply every element of the acronym when serving customers as it is a panacea for impacting positively.
Uwheru advised the staff against treating the phrase, positive impact with levity and expressed optimism that this year, customers will have every reason to commend the company for service delivery based on positive impact.
Meanwhile, the company has commenced the business year with strategic engagements with critical stakeholders in Obungha Community under the Bayelsa Region.
During the engagement, THISDAY gathered that Obungha Community has been plagued with the issue of underpayments of their bills. The community was informed that the era when customers view electricity as a social service is long gone as this is the era of energy accountability as PHED buys electricity at a cost but is currently running losses because of sabotage in the area.
Similarly, in Obuama Community, Degema LGA, Asari Dokubo, requested for collaboration to increased electricity services, informing that there are plans to commence some heavy production activities.
His request was acknowledged by the PHED management, as he was assured that the electricity firm will look into avenues for the investment plan.
