The People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Nigeria’s main opposition political party has described the recent defection of Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River state to the governing All Progressives Congress (APC) as the greatest political joke and misadventure of the century.
Emmanuel Agbo, the Deputy National Secretary of the PDP on Monday told ARISE News that during the 2023 general election, Governor Ayade will lose his council to the PDP.
Ebonyi State Governor David Umahi in November 2020, defected to the APC and cited injustice done to the South-East geo-political zone by the PDP as the reason for his defection.
Governor Ayade had last week also told ARISE News that his defection was for the progress and wellbeing of Nigeria.
Mr Agbo however noted that the structures of the opposition party in Ebonyi and Cross River states are still solid to deliver the votes ahead of the APC in the 2023 general election.
