Police Shoot Teargas At Protesters Heading To Bauchi Government House

Bauchi protesters, chanting and carrying placards, were met with teargas from police as they moved towards Government House.

Police operatives on Thursday, fired teargas to disperse protesters who had gone round some streets in Bauchi metropolis to protest the high cost of living in the country.

The protesters, mostly young people, carried placards with various inscriptions and while some of them carried leaves. As they moved rounded, they chanted in Hausa, “Adalci muke so,” (all we want is justice).

From the CBN Roundabout, the protesters who marched towards the Yakubun Bauchi road going to the Government House to air their grievances, were stopped by security agencies from the roundabout but they insisted on proceeding, prompting the Police to fire teargas to disperse them.

The protesters later regrouped and marched towards the Wunti Gate and through the Kobi Street but were again stopped by the security agencies stationed around the Wunti Gate.
