Police in Ondo State have arrested a 31-year- old man, for being in possession of eight human skulls and flesh suspected to be human parts and charms.
The state Commissioner of Police Abayomi Oladipo, while parading the suspect alongside four others at the command’s headquarters in Akure said Yusuf Adinohi was apprehended at Agbasi Locust checkpoint in Ase area of Isua-Akoko in Akoko South-East Local Government Area of the State.
His words: “On 10th of June, 2024 at about 0800hrs, Personnel attached to Police Safer Highway Patrol at Isua/Epinmi checkpoint while performing their lawful duty flagged down a Nissan car en route Akure.
“While the vehicle was being searched, one of the passengers took to his heels and the Police pursued and arrested him.
“His load was searched and eight dry human skulls, fresh human flesh, and charms were found in a wrapped polythene bag concealed in a garri sack he was travelling with.”
However, speaking, the suspect Yusuf Adinoyi, admitted being the owner of the eight smelly dry skulls and that he was going to Osogbo around Oke-Onitea area to deliver the human skulls to one Opeifa, a herbalist, confirming that he had supplied seven human skulls before he was arrested.
He said: “This will be my third time in this business. The first trip, I sold four heads, the second time three and the latest one which is eight. Also, this flesh comprise both human parts and dog heart. I bought the dog heart at Ibilo. For the skull, I usually buy it from my friend, Ismaila who usually get them from burial grounds.”
Adinoyi said before he ventured into the skull business, he was buying and reselling red oil and cashew nuts.
“My mother has been sick, we took her to Lokoja and the doctor said we need two million naira to revive her, so I had no choice than to venture into skull business. My intention was to leave the business once I gather the money.
“So far, from the seven that I had sold, I’ve made N245,000. I actually sold them to different people. I met the buyer on Facebook. He told me that he’s a herbalist.”
Meanwhile, on the arrest of four armed robbery suspects, the state Commissioner of Police said, “On 25th of April, 2024, a case of armed robbery at Gasland Nigeria Limited, Akure was reported at Okuta-Elerinla Division.
“Through intelligence led Policing, the following suspects were arrested; Uche Onu, 44; Ekene Okorie, 22 and Celestine Eze, 47 and they confessed to have participated in the robbery of one Scania truck with reg no: JJJ 701 YE valued at N12 million and sixty one 50kg empty gas cylinders were stolen, while a Police Constable was injured at the scene of crime.
“Ekene Okorie who drove the stolen truck, led detectives to one Emmanuel Okike who bought the stolen gas cylinders at the rate of N36,000 each totalling N2,256,000 which he paid into the account of Tochukwu Obi and Desmond Orjiakor respectively.”
He stressed that the stolen Scania truck was recovered from Benin City, Edo State while all sixty One 50kg empty gas cylinders were recovered from the receiver, Emmanuel Okike at Lagos State.
“Francis Okafor is presently in detention at SCID, Benin City in connection with another armed robbery case while effort is ongoing to apprehend Ezeego who is at large”, the CP stressed.
He added that all the suspects would be charged to court at the end of investigation.
