Peter Obi Says Ukraine’s Food Donation To Nigeria Is Disheartening + Herbert Wigwe Celebrated – Trending With Ojy Okpe

In the wake of the looting of warehouses and frustration over economic hardship in the country, the Federal Government on Monday, announced that it will begin the distribution of grains nationwide to cushion the impact of the hardship. In a post on X, the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security Senator Abubakar Kyari sympathized with Nigerians affected by the hardship.

Presidential candidate of the labour party Peter Obi, has reacted to the intervention of the government of Ukraine, after they donated 25,000 tonnes of wheat as emergency food assistance to 1.3 million vulnerable Nigerians in the northeastern region of the country. Peter Obi in a series of tweets on X, described the development as disheartening.

The Nigeria Labour Congress, has said that the only thing that would stop the planned nationwide strike over the hardship in the country, would be if the federal government honours the agreement it had with the union.

The NLC in a letter addressed to the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, dismissed claims by the federal government that it had fulfilled 80 per cent of the October 2nd 2023 agreement with organised labour, and advised the Federal government to adhere to their demands before March 13th 2024.

Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, minister of women affairs, says the recent protest by the Nigeria Labour Congress against the rising cost of living was a mere distraction.

The minister made the comments during a press conference in Abuja on Monday, adding that the country needs constructive ways to tackle its challenges. Several dignitaries gathered at the Eko convention center on Monday evening, to celebrate the professional excellence of the late group managing director and CEO of Access Bank Plc, Dr Herbert Wigwe.

The event began with an opening prayer followed by segments highlighting the achievements of the iconic Banker as a young man, and his transition to becoming a banker, an entrepreneur, a CEO, a builder and an Ambassador. Africa’s richest man, Aliko dangote led a horde of private sector professionals to pay tribute to the late banker, as he fought hard to hold back tears in an emotion-laden speech.
