The press conference held by the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi on Monday Nov 6th, continues to generate a debate online. Peter Obi during the question and answer session of the press conference was asked to make a comment about Labour Party lawmakers receiving sports utility vehicles valued at N160 million Naira each.
Peter Obi in response, said the SUVs were not personal cars for the lawmakers but were procured for official use. The minister of information and national orientation Mohammed Idris on Monday confirmed that the N5.2 billion Naira presidential yacht provided for in the 2023 supplementary budget was delivered since June of this year.
The minister who made the comment during his first press conference since his assumption of office in Abuja was however, silent on whether the Yacht was fully paid for as there is no record of its appropriation till date. In Niger state, where the governor of the state Umaru Bago on Monday demanded a payment of 13% derivation fund from the federal government just like the oil producing states of the federation.
According to the governor the state deserves to be paid about N1 trillion Naira in compensation for the hydrocarbon exchange being consumed from the state to the Delta region. Nigerian chef, Hilda Baci has reacted to her dethronement as the record-holder for the longest cooking marathon.
On Tuesday, the Guinness World Records disclosed that Irish chef Alan Fisher, cooked for 119 hours and 57 minutes, surpassing Baci’s record of 93 hours and 11 minutes. Reacting to Fisher’s feat, Baci in a post on X said she is happy to have held the prestigious record and also congratulated Fisher for his huge achievement.
