Peter Obi Insists Tinubu Didn’t Win Presidential Election, Urges ‘Obidients’ to Remain Calm

Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party in Nigeria’s February 25 elections, has insisted that president-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu did not win the election.

Speaking Monday on the Morning Show on ARISE News, Obi said, “The declared winner of the election did not win. To win is to win the people.”

Obi however urged his followers to show restraint. “I appeal to ‘Obidients’ and Nigerians to remain calm,” he said, saying he would pursue legal means to prove his assertions.

According to Obi, Nigeria’s problem is “accepting what is unaceptable.”

Responding to claims that the Labour Party rigged the elections in the South East because of the high percentage of votes he got, Obi replied, “I’m surprised I didn’t get 100% of votes in Anambra.

“Come to Anambra with me. I don’t need to go around with security. They know I keep my promises.”

Obi also clarified that there’s no partnership between the Labour Party and the People’s Democratic Party, but that they were both challenging a flawed election process.

He confirmed that he has been speaking to PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar.

Obi also reiterated his support for the Labour Party candidate in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in Lagos State, Gbadebo Rhodes Vivour.

He rejected the view the 40-year-old is too young and inexperienced to be governor saying, “I was about the same age when I campaigned to be Anambra governor.

“People should go out and vote Gbadebo.”
