Reactions have trailed the audio recording of a telephone conversation that was purportedly made between the presidential candidate of the Labour Party Peter Obi and the Presiding Bishop of Living Faith Church, Bishop David Oyedepo in which Peter Obi was heard canvassing for votes and allegedly used the phrase Religious War.
The 4 min 17 seconds Audio clip which has since gone viral was debunked on Sunday by the spokesperson of the Labour Party Diran Onifade, who described it as a product of the endless forgeries that members of the All Progressives Congress have a notoriety for.
The party further stated that the clip was manipulated to suit a narrative, and was done to serve no other purpose than to demarket Peter Obi and create a credibility problem, for the candidate who has long been on record as the only presidential candidate who has urged the Nigerian electorate not to vote for him on the basis of religion or tribe. Bishop Oyedepo while speaking during a sermon on Sunday in Ota Ogun state, hours after the Audio clip began circulating, said that he has never campaigned or spoken on behalf of any politician during elections in Nigeria.
In the same vein, the Labour Party has discredited any affiliation with Obiajulu Uja, the man who was arrested over the weekend after he disrupted a flight that was heading to Lagos from Abuja. Obiajulu was said to have been unruly to other passengers prior to boarding the flight, upon embarking Obianjulu began yelling at the top of his voice that President-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu must never be sworn-in as president on May 29th. In a video that went viral, Airport security were seen removing him from the plane as he constituted a flight risk. Obijulu was then heard calling out on Obietents for help.
Finally, the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority, LAMATA has debunked a viral video showing men pushing one of the train sets to be deployed for passenger operations for the Lagos Rail Mass Transit Blue Line recently commissioned by president Mohammadu Buhari In a statement, LAMATA stated that they discovered, after investigation that the train was clearly moving and that from the average length of the train, even 20 people can’t push it and so, those four people purportedly pushing the train were behind the train doing “God knows what.”
