In an interview with ARISE News on Tuesday, the spokesperson of the Abubakar Atiku Presidential Campaign, Daniel Bwala, said that rumours circulating about the party’s seemingly low media appearances should not be seen as a resignation from the fight to “reclaim” the presidential mandate of the parties flagbearer but rather it shows the strategic nature of the party.

Speaking with ARISE, Bwala said, “We heard a lot of people say that ‘PDP is quiet, is it that PDP has resigned to it’s faith?’ No, it is because PDP is strategic and PDP knows very well that this time it’s not just about rocking the boat, it’s about adjudication.”

Bwala shared the party’s optimism saying that however high the stakes for Atiku’s reclamation of his mandate may be, there is a preponderance of clear facts in his favour.

Bwala said that it is common practice in Africa for the the governing party and the government in power to do their utmost in either intimidating or inducing judges whenever a case is brought to court.

For this, he reiterated the need for strategy as a party that is bent on entrenching democracy.

Bwala also spoke of the PDP’s active engagement with international media organizations, saying that they are keen to cover the proceeding as long as the Nigerian Bar codes permit coverage.

They are motivated by the facts from various reports the international organisation gave.

Bwala said that the quietness of PDP is not novel as the party was seen to maintain decorum while other parties battled one another during the 2023 general elections.

“Of all the political parties, throughout the campaign, PDP was well coordinated in communicating in clear terms our plans for the Nigerian people. It was widely accepted.

“We got reports by analysts and economists thatt PDP’s manifesto, although not perfect, but of all manifestos presented a clearer path,” he said.
