Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has expressed his heartfelt appreciation to Silverbird Television and Nigerians for his selection as the Silverbird Man of the Year 2024, describing the recognition as a call to greater service.

The management of Silverbird announced Oyebanji as the award winner on Wednesday after he garnered the highest number of votes to surpass other nominees in the category.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, Governor Oyebanji said the award is a testament to the support of the people of Ekiti and Nigerians at large. He dedicated the honour to God, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the people of Ekiti.

“The honour is not about me but for Ekiti people. The award is dedicated to God for His grace, Mr President whose strong support made this possible, and Ekitikete for providing the opportunity to serve by voting our party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), into office and for their massive support for our administration,” the Governor said.

Silverbird cited Oyebanji’s impressive achievements in areas such as infrastructure and tourism development, social interventions for the less privileged, inclusive governance, agriculture, and rural development as the basis for his selection.

Established in 2005, the Silverbird Man of the Year Award recognises individuals who have made significant societal impacts. Previous winners include notable personalities such as Babatunde Fashola (SAN), Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, the late Prof. Dora Akinyuli, Chief Mike Adenuga, and Senator Adams Oshiomhole.
