Oyebanji: My Political Future Is in God’s Hands, I’m Not Worried About 2026

Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has declared that he is unperturbed by political agitations surrounding the 2026 governorship election, affirming his faith in God’s plan for his political future.

Speaking at the November edition of the monthly Evening of Praise and Worship held at Jibowu Hall, Government House Grounds in Ado Ekiti on Friday night, Oyebanji expressed confidence in God’s ability to guide his path as He did during the 2022 election.

The Governor revealed that he often receives text messages from politicians expressing concerns over the upcoming election. However, he emphasised his belief that God’s will supersedes all human calculations, adding that his peace remains intact because God is in control.

Reflecting on his administration’s achievements thus far, Oyebanji attributed the progress in critical sectors to divine intervention, despite prevailing economic challenges. He noted that since entrusting the state to God, Ekiti has enjoyed significant peace, prosperity, and progress.

He then said that his focus is on delivering good governance and fulfilling the promises he made to the people of Ekiti.

Addressing those concerned about the next election, Oyebanji reassured them of his trust in divine timing as he said, “God is in charge of everything including the 2026 that many people are anxious about. He will take care of everything. For now, let us concentrate on the work that has been given to us and let us do it very well.

“For those that are worried about 2026, sending me text messages everyday, don’t bother yourself. God that did the last one will do it again. Don’t bother yourself. Some complain that am not a politician, that I don’t understand politics. I am not bothered about this, nothing is going to stop my peace because I serve the God of peace.

“What God does not give a man, he cannot have it and when God makes up his mind, nobody can stop him. So, I am just saying this so that you can stop sending me text messages expressing anxieties about 2026”.

The Evening of Praise and Worship was attended by prominent state officials, including the Speaker of the State Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye; members of the assembly; members of the state executive council; top civil servants; and Christian leaders, alongside the general public.

The event featured performances from celebrated gospel ministers, including the National Praise Team of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Sister Dupe Olulana, Sister Biola Ojuawo, and Minister Akobi.
