Activities marking the 65th coronation anniversary of the Obi of Owa Kingdom, Dr Emmanuel Efeizomor II begin Friday with the traditional paying of homage to the revered Monarch by selected Palace Chiefs and members of the Obi – in – Council.
A statement by the Organising Committee said the ceremony will be attended by the Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori; immediate past Governor of the State, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa; members of the Delta State Traditional Rulers Council led by its Chairman and Orodje of Okpe, Major – General Felix Mujakpuero (Rtd) Orhue 1; the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), members of the Delta State Executive Council and a cross section of the public.
As part of the programme, the chiefs, accompanied by their kits and kin as well as their well wishers will proceed, in a dance procession to the Palace where they will eulogize the monarch and appreciate him for his reign which has brought tremendous growth and development to the kingdom.
The traditional homage paying event which is an age-long activity will also feature the presentation of gifts to the Monarch by prominent members of the public as well as wishers amidst pomp and pageantry.
The grand finale of the two – day event will hold on Saturday with praise and worship, paper presentation by an erudite Professor, cutting of the anniversary cake and cultural dances amongst others.
Born into the Odogwu Dynasty, Dr. Emmanuel Oyinke Efeizomor 11 (JP), was crowned the Obi of Owa Kingdom on September 6 1959.
He studied in Sapele, Port-Harcourt, Ibadan, Britain and the United States of America (USA).
His exposure and experience equipped him with a clear vision and mission to transform Owa into a Kingdom of civilized people and modernized structure.
