The chairman of the Independent National Electoral commission, Professor Mahmood Yakubu has come under fire, after giving assurances over the weekend that the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System will run optimally during the March 11th governorship and state assembly elections. Nigerians reacting to professor Mahmood Yakubu’s statement, pulled up various videos in which he gave the same assurances on several occasions.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, The Independent National Electoral Commission says it will on Monday, approach the Appeal Court for an order to allow it to reconfigure it’s Bimodal Voter Accreditation System for the March 11 state elections. In the meantime, videos showning how the BVAS Machine and INEC’s result sheets were compromised during the February 25th elections have made the rounds on social media.
The governorship candidate of the Labour Party in Lagos State, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, following attacks from people who believe that he does not qualify to govern the state because he is not a true Lagosian, in a statement touted his pedigree, saying that he that he is ‘An Omo Eko Proper’, whose family have contributed to the development of Lagos. While a video showing a man, threatening citizens who intend to vote for the Labour Party in the forthcoming gubernatorial election on march 11th, has made the rounds on social media.
