Outrage Over Cybersecurity Levy Imposed By Tinubu Admin Amid Hardship + Tribute To Yar’Adua – Trending With Ojy Okpe

Nigerians have taken to social media, to register their frustration over the 0.5 percent cybersecurity levy, imposed by central bank of Nigeria. On Tuesday, the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, issued a warning to the federal government to reverse the levy, which is to take effect in two weeks.

The nonprofit group threatened to take the government to court, should the directive not be withdrawn in the next 48 hours.

Former head of state, Yakubu Gowon has paid tribute to Ex- President Umaru Yar’Adua, 14 years after his passing, saying Nigeria would have been a better place if Yar’Adua had completed his term in office.

Yar’Adua died on May 5th, 2010, from an undisclosed illness at age of 58. Yakubu Gowon gave the tribute while speaking at the leadership conference and awards, organised by the Global Initiative For Leadership Success, in Abuja on Monday. He described the late President, as a decent man devoid of corruption.

In the meantime, as Nigeria marked 14years of Yaradua’s passing, a 2008 video, of the late president, announcing his support for the removal of the immunity clause, which shields ‘The President’, Vice President, State governors and their deputies, from prosecution, as stipulated in the 1999 Constitution, has made the rounds. Yar’Adua made the comments in Davos, Switzerland at a dinner hosted by the Partnership Against Corruption Initiative, as part of activities at the Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum.
