Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke on Wednesday said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will reclaim Ondo State in the November 16 governorship election in the state.
Adeleke, the Chairman of the National Campaign Council of PDP for the Ondo State election stated this during the inauguration of the state campaign council of the party in Akure, the state capital.
The governor who emphasised that the winning template he used in Osun State had been given to Ajayi, and he would win if he followed it noted that the ultimate deciders of the November 16 election in the coastal state are the people who will decide the electoral fortune of the candidates vying for the governorship seat.
His words “There should be no thuggery. We will base our campaign on issues. The people will decide. Go back to your constituencies and preach the gospel of PDP to the people.”
“Before we came to government, they said we can not perform in Osun State, go back to the State now, what APC cannot achieve in 12 years, we have achieved under one and half years which shows that we are more progressive than any other Party in Nigeria”
Adeleke said he has implicit confidence that the Ondo State chapter of the PDP will triumph in the coming election. He restated his confidence in the ability, experience, and pedigree of Ajayi to perform as Governor.
“All we need is commitment to our goal, pursue our goals selflessly, and victory shall be ours. I tell you Imole (light ) is here, and I am here to light my brother’s path to victory; I have told Governor Ayedatiwa that I am here in Ondo State to drive my party to victory and that Alagbaka is for PDP as from next year February”, he boasted.
However, he admitted that it is difficult to defeat an incumbent in Africa, especially Nigeria, but said many incumbents have been defeated in the country including that of Osun State
Adeleke said the PDP remains the only party in Nigeria that has been wiping away tears from the faces of the masses, while its rival, the All Progressives Congress (APC), is a party that operates like a cultist group with a retrogressive and parochial agenda.
He said the workings of the PDP government were opened to all and sundry in all the PDP States where the masses have always been the top priority of the government and stressed that the same thing would happen in Ondo State when PDP takes over Alagbaka as from Feb 2025.
Responding, the candidate of PDP for the poll, Agboola Ajayi, assured that Ondo PDP is determined more than ever before to take over Alagbaka from next year and that no stone would be left unturned to bring victory for the Party.
Ajayi said he was unperturbed by the defection of some members of the party to rival APC.
