The Osun State government, in line with Governor Ademola Adeleke’s promise to Osun State workers and pensioners, has begun the payment of wage awards to the workers and pensioners in Osun State.
In a statement that was released by the Spokesperson to the governor, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, it was revealed that the current serving state workers were given a sum of fifteen thousand naira, while the pensioners were granted ten thousand naira.
It was reported that Governor Adeleke had approved the wage award two weeks ago so as to cushion the effect of the subsidy removal on the workers of Osun State.
The wage award will last for six months, starting from December 2023 and lasting up till June of 2024.
In his remarks about the wage award payment, Governor Adeleke reaffirmed his dedication to worker welfare, promising to do all within his power to improve the well-being of state employees and retirees.
Adeleke said, “I wish to restate my deep passion and commitment to the wellbeing of our people. I know the close link between the formal and informal workforce in Osun State, so our administration will always work for the workers and the greater interest of our people.”
