Osun APC Suspends Ex-Governor Rauf Aregbesola Over Alleged Anti-Party Activities

Osun APC has suspended former governor Aregbesola, saying he was involved in anti-party activities, causing division within the party’s ranks.

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has suspended Rauf Aregbesola, former governor and immediate past Minister of Interior, over allegations of anti-party activities.

The suspension was confirmed by a letter from Alhaji Tajudeen Lawal, Osun APC Chairman, and reiterated by the party’s Director of Media and Publicity, Kola Olabisi.

The APC claims Aregbesola’s actions, particularly his alleged establishment of a splinter faction, have threatened party unity during a sensitive period in Osun politics. His influence within certain groups allegedly created internal divisions, with party leaders contending it undermined cohesion at a crucial time.

This decisive move by the Osun APC highlights an effort to curb perceived disloyalty and realign the party’s leadership structure in preparation for upcoming elections. Further statements from Aregbesola’s camp are anticipated as the situation continues to develop.
