Osama bin Laden’s Son Deported from France For Glorifying Terrorism

Omar Binladin, the son of Al Qaeda founder Osama bin Laden, has been deported from France and barred from returning after posting social media comments deemed to glorify terrorism. French Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau confirmed the deportation, citing the comments made by Binladin in 2023 as the reason for the action.

Binladin had been living in Normandy, France, with his British spouse, working as a landscape painter. The French authorities took notice of a social media post marking the birthday of his father who was killed by U.S. forces in 2011, though the exact post could not be located. In July 2023, police had conducted a search for him in the village of Domfort, Normandy.

Mr Binladin, who has lived in the Orne region for several years as the spouse of a British national, posted comments on his social networks in 2023 that glorified terrorism,” Retailleau said on X. “The administrative ban ensures that Mr Binladin cannot return to France for any reason whatsoever.”

Binladin has not yet made any public statements regarding the deportation.
