Ooni Urges Peter Obi & Atiku’s Supporters To Sheathe Their Swords – Trending With Ojy Okpe

As the presidential election petitions tribunal began hearing petitions on Monday. Nigerians and leaders of thought have shared different opinions on the petitions filed by various opposition parties and their candidates, challenging the Victory of Bola Ahmed Tinubu as winner of the Elections.

The Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Ogunwusi Ojaja II, has appealed to supporters of the main opposition parties, the Peoples Democratic Party and the Labour Party to sheathe their swords ahead of Inauguration Day.

The monarch urged the various party supporters to forget about the past and work with the President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu stating that regardless of their candidate choice all hands must be on deck to put Nigeria in the right path to greatness because the elections are over. The Ooni made the comment while hosting a high delegation sent by Kenyan President, William Ruto in Lagos.

In the meantime, the former minister of Niger Delta affairs Godswill Akpabio who has just been nominated as president of the senate by the All Progressives Congress paid a courtesy visit to the Ooni of Ife over the weekend seeking royal blessings for his senate presidential bid.

Daniel Bwala, spokesperson of the Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party has come under fire on social media after he posted a video showing a fellow lawyer opening the vehicle door for him when he attended the first day of the presidential election tribunal in Abuja on Monday.

Finally, following the sentencing of Nigeria’s former deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, on Friday may 5th by a United Kingdom court to a period on nine years and eight months on human trafficking charges.

An expert at the US state department’s bureau of intelligence and research, Matthew Page, in a report seen by the guardian newspaper is said to have alerted the United Kingdom’s authorities to investigate the illicit affairs of Ekweremadu, before he was jailed for trafficking a man to London in an attempt to harvest his kidney.

Page who is an associate fellow at the Chatham House had examined how Nigerian politicians including Ekweremadu used unexplained wealth to buy millions of pounds worth of property in the UK.

The report also detailed how politicians used funds accrued over the years to sponsor expensive private education for their children. Page said the UK could have avoided the historical case of organ trafficking if the authorities had swiftly acted on his warnings about Ekweremadu.
