Lawyer and member of the recently dissolved All Progressive Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, Jesutega Onokpasa, stated that Nigerians need to be patient with the president as he is not the cause of the nation’s problems.
In an ARISE NEWS interview on Monday, Mr. Onokpasa urged Nigerians to support the president for the progress of the country and its citizens.
“On the Cross of Calvary, Jesus said, ‘Son behold your mother, mother behold your son’. I say to Nigerians, ‘Nigerians behold your president,’ and it is Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”
Since his transition into office, many criticisms have come up, including the outcry over the removal of petrol subsidies and the distribution of N25,000 to 15 million households for a period of three months.
“Let’s give the president some time. Let’s stop the gaslighting. Are we pretending that hunger came into Nigeria today? Did it come because of Bola Tinubu?
“Bola Tinubu did not remove fuel subsidy; that’s a misconception. The law doesn’t even allow you to pay fuel subsidy. That’s the PIA act. since the act was passed, we have been paying subsidy illegally. And the previous government was comfortable with breaking the law and paying subsidies only making provisions for it up until June this year.
“We would have been in even more trouble if that subsidy had continued.”
Onokpasa also stated that the president only has to obey the law and argued that claims that the economy has tanked is a lie and the issues are not the fault of the president.
He praised the tribunal verdict and insisted that all petitions and rumours are simply propaganda to divide Nigerians.
