Official Title, Release Date for ‘Black Panther’ Sequel Announced

Marvel Studios has announced the next line-up in the Phase 4 plan of its cinematic universe, including the release date and title of the next highly-anticipated Black Panther and Captain Marvel films.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ will continue to explore the incomparable world of Wakanda and all of the rich and varied characters introduced in the first film. Written and directed by Ryan Coogler, who was behind ‘Black Panther’, the film will be released on July 8, 2022.

The film will not recast the late Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa, the lead character. Letitia Wright, who plays Shuri, Lupita Nyong’o (Nakia), Winston Duke (M’Baku) and Angela Bassett (Ramonda) are all expected to reprise their roles.

Revealed alongside a celebration of Marvel films and a tease of what’s to come, Marvel also announced the official title of the Captain Marvel sequel and gave fans a glimpse of the film, ‘Eternals,’ starring Angelina Jolie.

‘The Marvels’ will see Brie Larson returning as Captain Marvel and WandaVision’s Teyonah Parris (Monica Rambeau) has also signed on board for the sequel. Velvet Buzzsaw’s Zawe Ashton is set to play the villain.

Other films set for release include ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ in late 2021, ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’, ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’, ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania’ and ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’.
