The Nigeria Labour Congress on Monday, issued a warning that it would mobilise its members to embark on an indefinite nationwide strike if the current price of petrol increases. Joe Ajaero, the president of the NLC, made the statement at the African Trade Union alliance meeting in Abuja.

The feud between the Governor of Edo State Godwin Obaseki, and his deputy, Philip Shaibu, widened over the weekend after Obaseki accused Shaibu of manipulating the election of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, in the state to further his governorship ambition.

Last week, while addressing stakeholders Obaseki claimed that Shaibu had become so desperate to succeed him, ahead of the Edo governorship election in 2024.
