Mr. Godwin Obaseki has been reelected as governor of Edo State. He polled 307,955 votes in Saturday’s governorship election to defeat his closest rival, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu of the Peoples Democratic Party, who scored 223,619 votes.
Obaseki, who is the incumbent governor of Edo State, won in 13 local government areas to secure his reelection for another term. Ize Iyamu won in 5 local government areas.
The PDP candidate won in Egor, Esan Central, Esan North East, Esan South East, Esan West, Ikpoba-Okha, Oredo, Ovia North East, Owan West, Uhunmwonde, Igueben, Orhionmwon and Ovia South West LGAs
Ize-Iyamu won in Akoko-Edo, Etsako Central, Etsako East, Etsako West and Owan East LGAs.
Obaseki was declared winner and returned elected by the State returning officer at 2.45PM.
