The management of Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, NUPRC has dismissed as baseless and unfounded allegation brought against it by the workers’ union, accusing it of misappropriating a whooping N10 billion virement and donating another N4 billion to some political parties for campaigns in the build up to the 2023 general elections.
In a statement on Thursday, the management of the regulatory agency challenged those behind the allegations to publish details of the account from where the donation of N4 billion was pulled out and the account of the political party the money was paid into.
The management also challenged the workers’ union to produce other relevant documents including invoices used for the donation, stressing that there is no way N10 billion can leave the
coffers of the commission without trace.
It also denied wasting a staggering N900 million on dubious sensitization workshops and that it spent another N500 million on a frivolous renovation of offices across the country.
The management said it never spent N1.5 billion on luxury nor hired private jet at anytime for the Commission Chief Executive, Gbenga Komolafe as alleged by those it said are being mischievous and trying to tarnish his image and undermine his outstanding achievements.
On the issues of recruitment of 140 new staff, the management said the exercise was done in strict compliance with all procedures and compliance certificate issued by the relevant agencies.
This was as management said it has kept faith with the contractual agreements and obligations with the workers especially as they relate to their welfare. It said the allegations of neglecting the workers is completely baseless.
