NSCDC Nabs 12 Suspects for Oil Bunkering, Illegal Mining in Ondo State

Twelve suspects were arrested by the NSCDC in Ondo State for alleged oil bunkering, illegal mining, stealing and vandalism.

The Ondo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has arrested 12 suspects for alleged oil bunkering, illegal mining, stealing and vandalism in the state.

The state Commandant of the Corps, Oluyemi Ibiloye while parading the suspects  before newsmen in Akure,  said the arrests were maid through collaborative effort with the Nigeria Army.

Specifically, he said the joint effort led to the arrest of three suspects; Oduga Promise, 32; ola Sunday, 28 and Adebayo Segun, 18, who were arrested for illegal oil bunkering at Alape, Igbokoda in Ilaje LGA.

His words: “Exhibits recovered were about 1200 litres of illegally refined AGO and a Toyota Sienna car with registration number Ondo AKR 876 NP.”

For illegal mining, the NSCDC Commandant said,  “Kabiru Muazu, 27, Aminu Adamu, 30, Aminu Garuba, Buhari Lawal, 25  and Mustapha Auwal,18, were arrested at Ogunlepa mining site in Odigbo LGA on 3rd September,  2024 at about 1420hrs.”

“Richard Sunday, 20 and Bashiru Abdullahi, 20, were  arrested at Imafon in Akure North on 7th September 2024 for stealing and buying stolen goods while Aderinboye Adesola, 44, was arrested at Oda town on 9th September, 2024.”

Also, he said Paul Johnson, 35, was arrested in Ore, Odigbo LGA for vandalising and stealing of 33KVA aluminium cables concealed in a commercial vehicle going to Lagos. 

 Ibiloye, however, warned that his men would not allow the country’s national wealth to be plundered by some selfish elements, calling on the public to always give timely and useful information to security agencies to rid the state from criminality.
