Son of Norway’s Crown Princess Arrested On Rape Charges Amid Multiple Investigations

Marius Borg Høiby, stepson of Crown Prince Haakon, has been arrested and faces multiple charges, including rape and violence against victims.

Marius Borg Høiby, the 27-year-old stepson of Crown Prince Haakon of Norway, has been arrested on suspicion of rape, adding to a series of legal troubles he is already facing. Høiby, the son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit, does not hold a royal title or perform official duties.

On Tuesday, Norwegian police confirmed that Høiby has been charged with engaging in sexual intercourse with “someone who is unconscious or for other reasons is unable to resist the act.” Police clarified that the charge concerns a sexual act “without intercourse,” and they stated the victim was “said to have been unable to resist the act.”

According to local media, Høiby has denied the rape allegation.

Høiby, who is already facing multiple charges for offences against four other individuals, was arrested on Monday night at 23:12 CET while in a car with a victim involved in a separate case.

In relation to the incident involving the individual in the car, Høiby faces charges dating back to August 4 for violence and criminal damage.

On Tuesday, police announced that these charges had been expanded to include “maltreatment” in close relationships and another violation of a restraining order against the same victim. A separate report has also been filed against Høiby for driving without a valid license.

The police further confirmed that Høiby’s residence at Skaugum, the official home of Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit, has been searched as part of the investigation.

Høiby has previously been accused of abuse by ex-girlfriends Juliane Snekkestad and Nora Haukland, and he also faces allegations of threatening a man.

The Norwegian Royal Palace has so far declined to comment on the recent arrest and the growing list of charges against Høiby.

The case has drawn significant public attention in Norway, not only due to Høiby’s connection to the royal family but also because of the serious nature of the allegations against him. Investigations are ongoing.
