NNPC Donates 10 CNG Buses To Nigerians + CNPP Demands Mele Kyari’s Suspension – Trending With Ojy Okpe

The Depots and Petroleum Products Marketers Association of Nigeria has donated 30 hybrid-powered Compressed Natural Gas buses to ease the cost of transportation on Nigerians.

On Monday, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, during inauguration ceremony at the state house in Abuja, emphasised the urgent need for Nigeria to utilise its vast natural gas resources in the transportation sector.

The NNPC Ltd, through its Corporate Social Responsibility arm, NNPC Foundation, has also donated 10 CNG buses to cushion the effects of transportation on Nigerians. President Bola Tinubu has been advised by the Conference of Nigeria Political Parties to sack the chief executive of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company, Mele Kyari, over allegations of subsidy scams, importation of substandard petroleum products, and the mismanagement of the Port Harcourt Refinery.

The Presidency has reacted to the controversy over the N570 billion Naira, announced by president Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the Nationwide broadcast August 4th, which he said had been released to 36 states to expand livelihood support to their citizens.

Some governors, including Oyo State governor, Seyi Makinde had contradicted the President, saying that the money was not directly from the federal government, but a world bank loan.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Temitope Ajayi, in response, said that the status of the fund should not be the focus; but rather how the money can assist in the country’s development.

The Oyo state Governor had described the president’s statement on the issue; as yet another case of misrepresentation of facts. Makinde said the funds were part of the World Bank-assisted NG-CARES project a Programme for Results intervention, whereby states had to use their money in advance to implement the programme, and that the states were only being reimbursed for the funds that they have already invested. The Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani on Monday, commenced the distribution of 500 trucks of fertiliser, to smallholder farmers across the 23 Local Government Areas of the state, marking the largest of such distribution in history of the state.

The governor during the event, said that the 240,000 bags of fertilizer would be distributed FREE to 120,000 farmers, in a bid enhance food security in the state.
